SAN FRANCISCO -- Lloyd W. Aubry, Jr., director of the California Department of Industrial Relations, will brief the media on Governor Wilson's proposed 1996-97 budget and its impact on the programs administered by DIR. The chief of each DIR division will also be on hand to address questions on occupational safety and health, prevailing wages, apprenticeship programs, the increased labor law enforcement (particularly in the garment sector), and workers' compensation.

Given the major reform proposals regarding eight-hour overtime and California's calculation of the prevailing wage, it should prove to be an interesting session.
In addition, Director Aubry will briefly review Governor Wilson's proposed State budget which was presented to the legislature last week.
