SMCS reimbursement for election / representation services
Effective July 1, 2010, parties must reimburse SMCS for the cost of election set up and supervision. See the regulation
. Once a request for election or card check services is received by SMCS, a mediator will be assigned. The mediator will meet with the parties and assist the parties in working out an election or a card check agreement. The agreement will include an agreement to pay SMCS, in accordance with the following schedule:
The parties will be guided by any local rules specifying how election costs are to be paid. Absent local rules, parties must reach mutual agreement on payment before SMCS will proceed further. Once an election or card check agreement is reached, SMCS will bill the paying party / parties and the election will proceed.
