CHSWC to convene four educational forums for the workers compensation community
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers Compensation (CHSWC) voted in its public meeting on June 10, 2004 to convene four educational forums for the public.
The four forums that will be held in 2004-5 are: 1) Training on the American Medical Association (AMA) Guides which will be co-sponsored by the Division of Workers Compensation (DWC) on other invited stakeholders, 2) CHSWC and RAND forum on terrorism, natural disasters and workers compensation and 3) CHSWC, RAND and the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) and other invited stakeholders will conduct an educational conference on evidence-based practice guidelines, quality of care, costs and appropriate care with a focus on the CHSWC RAND study of treatment protocols and utilization review. In addition, a fourth forum on best practices in workers compensation.
CHSWC is charged with overseeing the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational diseases and to examine those programs in other states.
