INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

The public meeting of the Industrial Welfare Commission noticed for September 5, 2006, has been cancelled.

Governor Schwarzenegger reached an agreement with the Legislature to increase California's minimum wage by $1.25 over the next year and a half - reaching $8.00 an hour by January, 2008.

Due to pending legislation, the public meeting of the Industrial Welfare Commission noticed for August 24, 2006, has been postponed until September 5, 2006. Please see the notice below regarding the September 5, 2006, public meeting.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

OF THE

INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

September 5, 2006

In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1178, and 1178.5, the Industrial Welfare Commission ("IWC") will hold a public meeting on September 5, 2006. This public meeting will be held in Sacramento at the Department of Water Resources Auditorium, 1416 Ninth Street, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

PUBLIC MEETING AGENDA

  1. Approval of minutes for the public meeting and hearing held July 5, 2006.
  2. Consideration of the Wage Board Report from the Wage Board established to review the adequacy of California's current minimum wage. (The Wage Board Report is available on the IWCs website at www.dir.ca.gov/iwc).
  3. Consideration of language for possible amendment to the General Minimum Wage Order, Title 8, California Code of Regulations, section 11000.
  4. Clarification of the June 2, 2006, petition from Barry Broad, as amended by Mr. Broad at the July 5, 2006, meeting to request that the IWC review and amend Wage Order 9 to eliminate the exemption from overtime for commercial drivers whose hours of service are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation or the California Highway Patrol.
  5. Closed session pursuant to Government Code section 11126(e): Pending litigation: Small et al. v. The Superior Court of California et al., Court of Appeal, Fourth App. Dist., Div. 3, Case No. G037041.
  6. Any new business that may come before the IWC.
