NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND MEETING

OF THE

INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1178.5 (c) and 1181, the Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) will hold public hearings on proposed amendments to Wage Order No. 14 with regard to the wages, hours, and working conditions of sheepherders. The Sheepherders Wage Board was unable to agree on proposed changes to the Wage Order. The IWC has therefore decided to submit for public comment proposed regulations originating from both the employee and the employer Wage Board members. The hearing on the proposed regulations will be held in Bakersfield on April 9, 2001. The hearing will commence at 10:00a.m.

AGENDA

1. Consideration and public comment on the proposed employee amendments to Wage Order No 14. (Attachment A.)

2. Consideration and public comment on the proposed employer amendments to Wage Order No 14. (Attachment B.)

In order for the IWC to provide an opportunity for interested parties to speak at the public hearings, the amount of time within which each speaker will be allowed to address the IWC may be limited. Accordingly, the public is urged to submit written statements to the IWC concerning items on the agenda.

For further information, you can visit the IWC's web site at www.dir.ca.gov/iwc. You can also contact staff members of the IWC, at (916) 322-0167.
