NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
of the
INDUSTRIAL WELFARE COMMISSION

In accordance with Labor Code Sections 1173, 1178.5, 1181, and 1182, the Industrial Welfare Commission ("IWC") will be considering the adoption of amendments to Wage Order 5-2001 with regard to the wages, hours, and working conditions of employees covered by Wage Order 5 who have direct responsibility for children under eighteen (18) years of age receiving twenty-four (24) hour care. The IWC will also consider the adoption of a Statement as to the Basis for the amendments to Wage Order 5-2001, if the amendments are adopted. A public meeting will therefore be held on October 29, 2001, at the Santa Clara County Government Center in the Isaac Newton Auditorium, 70 West Hedding Street, San Jose, CA 95110. The hearing will commence at 10:00 a.m.

AGENDA

1. Approval of Minutes for the public meeting held April 24, 2001 and June 15, 2001.

2. Consideration of proposed amendments to Wage Order 5-2001 regarding employees covered by Wage Order 5 who have direct responsibility for children under eighteen (18) years of age receiving twenty-four (24) hour care. (See Attachment)

3. Discussion of, and possible action with regard to, the May 30, 2001 opinion letter written by Miles Locker, Chief Counsel of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, on deductions from exempt employees' salary.

4. Staff counsel report on the request that Section 11 of Wage Order 1-2001 be modified to allow employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement to agree to a meal period after 6 hours of work.

5. Any new business that may come before the IWC.
