California Labor Commissioner distributes clothes to Bay Area’s neediest
| WHAT | California Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet will personally distribute clothing items worth more than $4,000 to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. |
| WHEN | Friday, December 21, 2007, 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. |
| WHERE | St. Vincent de Paul Community Center 2272 San Pablo Avenue Oakland, CA 94612 |
| WHO | Angela Bradstreet, California Labor Commissioner Reuben D. Garza, Director of Special Works |
| WHY | Investigators from the Labor Commissioner’s Office and the Economic and Employment Enforcement Coalition confiscated women and children’s clothing items from garment businesses that failed to properly register with the state of California. The confiscated clothing items are placed in storage for 45 days and then must be “disposed” of or “destroyed” and cannot be resold. Labor Commissioner Bradstreet will donate these clothing items to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to benefit those who lack some of life’s necessities and highlight the significance of combating the underground employers who undermine California’s economy. |
