California Labor Commissioner distributes clothing to those in need
| WHAT | California Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet will personally distribute new clothing items worth more than $25,000 at the L.A Family Housing homeless shelter. |
| WHEN | Thursday, December 20, 2007, 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. |
| WHERE | L.A. Family Housing 207 N. Breed St. Los Angeles, CA 90033 |
| WHO | Angela Bradstreet, California Labor Commissioner Ruth Schwartz, Founder and Executive Director of Shelter Partnership |
| WHY | Investigators from the Labor Commissioner’s Office and the Economic and Employment Enforcement Coalition confiscated women and children’s clothing items from garment businesses that failed to properly register with the state of California. The confiscated clothing items are placed in storage must be “disposed” of or “destroyed” for 45 days and cannot be resold. Labor Commissioner Bradstreet will donate these clothing items to the L.A. Family Housing homeless shelter. The donated clothes will benefit those who lack some of life’s necessities and highlight the significance of combating the underground employers who undermine California’s economy. |
