SAN FRANCISCO -- The Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) Chief John Howard will announce the completion of the Cal/OSHA's investigation of the February 23, 1999 fatal accident at the Tosco Avon Refinery in Martinez. Chief Howard, along with Deputy Chief Mark Carleson and the Cal/OSHA investigative team, will brief the media on the technical aspects of the investigation findings and citations issued against the company.
This will be the first opportunity to hear details about the six-month investigation into the February 23, 1999 fire. The incident resulted in the death of four employees and the serious injury of one employee working on the site. Copies of the citations issued against Tosco will be available.
