Partnership in Health Care Apprenticeships
Give Students New Path to Success
Salinas -- Students from five local high schools and two community
colleges now have access to a pilot apprenticeship program which can provide
new doors to a successful career through a curriculum plan called Schools
to Career/Apprenticeship.
The parties involved in this exciting program will sign a memorandum of
understanding and offer insight as to the working operation and how it will
benefit many of the state's high school students. The apprenticeship program
will focus locally on the health care industry.
The program, coordinated through a joint effort by the Department of Industrial
Relations, the school districts and the Mission Trails Regional Occupational
Program, launches an aggressive apprenticeship education for students. The
pilot will spread to at least seven other school district within the state
initially and is expected to touch hundreds of students each year. The Salinas
and Monterey County education link will establish a related study course
that will set students onto the path of an apprenticeship certification.
