Voice data video technician and Non-residential lighting technician
The California Apprenticeship Council has extended the certification date for candidates who are applying for the Voice Data Video Technician and Non-residential Lighting Technician examinations. The new deadline to pass the examination and become certified has been extended until December 31, 2008. By January 1, 2009 electricians who are not certified by this time are working illegally.
In 1999, the legislation passed requiring all electricians who work for a C-10 electrical contractor to be certified by the State of California. Regulations were put in place in 2002. The deadline for Residential Electricians getting this certification was January 1, 2007. The deadline for General Electricians and Fire/Life Safety Technicians was January 1, 2006. Electricians who are not certified by this time are working illegally.
