OAKLAND  --  The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce that Commissioners Kristen L. Schwenkmeyer and Angie S. Wei were reappointed to the Commission by Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Chair of the Senate Rules Committee. Ms. Schwenkmeyer, a Democrat from Hermosa Beach, is co-owner and secretary-treasurer of Gordon & Schwenkmeyer, Inc., a telemarketing firm established in 1985.  Ms. Wei, a Democrat from Oakland, is the Legislative Director for the California Labor Federation.

CHSWC is charged with overseeing the health and safety and workers’ compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation.  The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers’ compensation system and of the state’s activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses and to examine those programs in other states.
