Catherine Aguilar Reappointed to the California Commission on
Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation

OAKLAND – The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce that Catherine (Cathy) Aguilar has been reappointed to the Commission by Governor Schwarzenegger. Ms. Aguilar, whose new term extends through 2011, represents employers.

Ms. Aguilar is an independent consultant currently working with Gitter and Associates providing consulting in many areas of workers’ compensation. She has been active in the workers’ compensation industry for over 25 years.  Ms. Aguilar has worked for Costco Wholesale as their regional director for the East Coast workers’ compensation program and managed the workers’ compensation program for the San Diego Schools Joint Powers Association.  She has been an active member of the California Coalition on Workers’ Compensation and is currently an active member of the San Diego Chapter of Risk Insurance Managers Association. She is also a member of the San Diego Public Agencies Risk Management Association (PARMA). Over the years, she has taught various courses for the Insurance Education Association.

CHSWC is charged with examining the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. CHSWC was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational diseases and to examine those programs in other states.
