During September and October, most of DIR's headquarters offices in San Francisco moved to a new location. The offices now are located at 45 Fremont Street in San Francisco's Financial District, and the move resulted in new telephone numbers.

DIR's headquarters were formerly located in the State Building in San Francisco along with several other state agencies. That building now has been completely vacated and will be demolished. The state will build a new tower on the same location to house DIR and other agencies. Completion is scheduled for 1998.
