Governor Pete Wilson has appointed Douglas Cornford as a member of the Industrial Welfare Commission as an employer representative.
Since 1993, Cornford has worked as a consultant with Western Management Alliance, a labor relations/human relations firm in San Mateo. Previously, he was president of D.N. Cornford and Associates from 1986 to 1993 and executive director of the Hotel Employers Association of San Francisco from 1977 to 1985.
Cornford earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Occidental College in 1957. In 1960, he received a master's degree in business administration, specializing in labor relations and personnel administration, from the University of California, Los Angeles. He lives in Oakland.
This appointment must be confirmed by the state Senate.
