Potential Apprentices

Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) annually awards completion certificates to the graduates of the 1,433 currently active apprenticeship programs in more than 200 occupations. Apprenticeship programs are one of California's best kept secrets.

With so many opportunities, how do I get started?

  • The first thing you need to do is decide which apprenticeship program to apply for.

    • What can you imagine yourself doing for work?

    • What do you have a natural aptitude for?

    • What kind of physical conditions are you willing to work in?

    • Check Web sites such as career videos from the US Department of Labor. http://www.careervoyages.gov/careervideos-main.cfm

  • Check the DAS program Web page to see what is available in your County. http://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/das/aigstart.asp

  • Once you have decided which apprenticeship program you want to participate in call the contact number for the particular program and let them help you get started.

  • Show up and do your best knowing you are beginning a new career path.
